OUR STUDIO CULTURE AND DESIGN PROCESS

PRAX Studio is a small team of dedicated and experienced professionals that are committed to achieving excellence with every project. We aim to consistently exceed our clients’ expectations and to deliver outcomes that are thoughtful, creative, beautiful and sustainable.

We are not just another project consultant, we see ourselves as a key collaborator and partner on your journey. We are agile and able to respond quickly and adapt smoothly to changing project constraints and opportunities. Throughout every stage of our projects we are constantly looking for opportunities to add value and deliver more than you are expecting.

Our design processes are supported by a suite of industry-leading technical tools which we customise for each project. Excellent communication is fundamental to our work and we use these tools to communicate using a variety of media including rendered 3D visualisations for every project we undertake.

OUR PROCESS

Design is an inherently non-linear process and often the outcome is partly a function of the process itself. At PRAX Studio, in close collaboration with our clients, we take a rational and analytical approach to design that seeks to tease out possibilities that may not be obvious initially.

This process begins with research and questioning to allow us to clearly understand our client's brief, their measures of success and their preconceptions for the project outcome We seek to fully understand the site, its opportunities and constraints, its cultural and social history, its physical attributes and its environment.

We then begin to formulate a series of responses, which may take many forms initially. These responses are developed through an iterative process of analysis, testing and review of both the parameters we uncover during our research and the emerging responses themselves. We guide you through this journey and gather feedback from you as we iterate through these options and at each step we refine our responses, change direction when necessary and eventually narrow down the number of alternatives to one that is preferred.

When we have your endorsement of a preferred option we enter the delivery phase of our design process which is the polishing and refinement of these ideas during their implementation.

OUR COLLABORATORS

We are a small but growing team of design professionals with the skills, tools, capability and talent to deliver a wide range of project types and scales. To help us deliver larger projects and to inject complementary skills and experience into our offer when necessary, we have formed in-principle agreements with several collaborating partner firms. These practices range in scale from small and local to large and national and even international standing. Depending on the type, scale and complexity of project we are happy to propose a collaborative arrangement for your consideration.
