ALFRED STREET APARTMENTS

PRAX Studio has been engaged by the owners of a tight inner-urban site in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley to prepare a concept design for a residential apartment tower. Our strategy for this design was to complement and reinforce the existing street elevations with a new podium form that enhances the existing streetscape character. A palette of industrial materials acknowledges the site's unique industrial history, including off-form concrete, face brickwork, and glass-reinforced concrete. The tower and podium forms are articulated with thoughtful detailing, creating a deep, textured elevation providing sun-shading while sub-tropical landscaping features prominently to help soften and diffuse light and views.
