PRAX Studio produced a concept design for a luxury lakeside villa in a picturesque bucolic setting to serve as a new family home for our client and their young children. The large semi-rural property featured a lake and views to distant horizons. Our design evokes a nurturing embrace with delicate wing-like forms that simultaneously encloses a private outdoor space creating a sense of security and intimacy within the large site while also opening up to embrace the sunlight and views over the lake. The primary elevation features a finely detailed system of timber louvres, fixed sun-shading and operable glazing to filter and modulate solar access according to the season.   

The house is of a significant scale, featuring five bedrooms plus guest and staff accommodation, formal and informal living spaces, large home office and garaging for four vehicles. The private courtyard at the rear of the house includes a pool and is encircled by a ramp which provides wheelchair access to the upper level for a mobility-impaired family member.
