PRAX Studio was engaged to prepare a concept design for a commercial office development on a key city fringe site. The site featured significant existing infrastructure that had to be embraced by the design and is situated on a prominent intersection of an arterial road corridor.   

Our design strategy was to celebrate and give emphasis to the key corner of the site with an architectural expression that merges tower and podium into a single form. The tower and podium dissolve into each other by way of a pixelated facade treatment which also provides deep shading for the otherwise exposed elevations. In response to the site's proximity to an arterial road, the pixelation stretches out along the horizontal axis, referencing the acceleration of cars as they speed away from the intersection.
