PRAX Studio was engaged to prepare a concept design for a commercial office development on a key city fringe site. The site featured significant existing infrastructure that had to be embraced by the design and is situated on a prominent intersection of an arterial road corridor.   

Our strategy for this design was to reinforce the street elevations with a new podium form that enhances the existing streetscape character. A palette of industrial materials including off-form concrete, steel and glass are deployed with thoughtful detailing to create a lightness of form and transparency. Indoor and outdoor sub-tropical landscaping features prominently and creates a literal and metaphorical link between the public domain and the more public functions of the podium levels. The commercial office tower, while finely articulated with metallic sun shading devices, is designed to recede into the sky.
